Hioki Bridge is one of "the Horikawa 7 bridges" covered when Horikawa was buil

花見の名所　日置橋

堀川は花見の名所として親しまれていました。
　文化元年（1804）に、御普請奉行（ごふしんぶぎょう　工事をする役）の堀弥九郎（ほりやくろう）という人が、日置橋（ひおきばし）の南北の両岸、数百メートルに桃（もも）と桜の木を植えました。文政5年（1822）ころになると、大きく育った木はみごとな花をさかせ、たくさんの人がお花見に集まるようになりました。
しかし、明治の頃には木が老木になり自然消滅した。

現在は当時の様子を再現しようと、護岸に三本の桜が植えられました。
キャッシュは三本の桜の木の付近に隠されています。
