This cache is in memory of Maxwell, "the best dog ever!"
Maxwell was a beloved companion, best-friend, protector, and walking partner for almost sixteen years. As a young puppy, he quickly learned the meaning of the word "walk." Upon hearing it, he would run excitedly to the drawer where his leash was kept. He even learned to spell w-a-l-k! Maxwell enjoyed the Savannah Loop trail at Government Canyon State Natural Area. His human mom and best boy decided that this trail would be a fitting place for his memorial cache. The cache is now an ammo box. (It was originally a camo-covered Maxwell House (of course!) coffee can, but the elements took their toll.) Inside we have placed some small dog-themed items to trade. This cache was placed with the permission and the help (he also supplied the new container) of the very nice Park Interpreter, John. As you enjoy the beautiful wilderness that is Government Canyon, please take a moment to celebrate Maxwell or your own "best dog ever!"
