Geocache Description:

The cache is located on the north shore of the Chinook Bend Natural Area. I would recommend approaching from the west. The cache isn't accesible during periods of high water.

The river follows its own path. The north east shores of the natural area have been heavily carved by the river in recent times. The area is constantly changing, as the river follows its own path, not necesarily the path desired by others. If you found this cache on the standered maps on geocaching.com (they are older, but I'm not sure how much older), you will notice that it shows the land extending about 200 feet further north than it really does. The satelitte maps and the maps on the cache page are much more accurate. When high waters came through this area, they created natural paths, which can be followed by humans. Follow the paths to where the cache is. This cache is designed to endure underwater conditions during high water, if water is flowing through the paths leading to the cache, chances are the cache will be submerged. One day, enough water will flow through the paths to erode them away, creating a new island. For now, there appears to be plenty of land preventing that from happening. If you continue past this spot, there is a nice clearing and access to an island which would be a great spot to have a picnic.
