Geocache Description:

9:00 a.m. – Meet at coordinates to sign in and listen to a short, mandatory safety meeting.

11:30 a.m.-Make sure trash bags are placed at the base of either AAH sign, and vests are returned at this time. (You may do this earlier; this is just the scheduled end time.)

We have been talking about joining the Adopt-A-Highway program for several years now. We finally got it coordinated, and have a 2 mile stretch of road not too far from our weekly, Wednesday spot. The cache coordinates will take you to the spot where we will be set up to pass out and collect supplies, have the sign-in sheet and waivers, and hold a short, mandatory safety meeting. This spot is near the north end of our area. Our two miles stretch of Cooper begins at 287 and ends at Harris.
There is no one good spot for parking; however, there is parking available all up and down Cooper at various strip malls and closed businesses. We did scope out one place nearer to the south end that has 20 parking spots at the end of a parking lot. Those coordinates are N32 36.405 W097 08.582. Another option is to meet up in this huge, practically deserted parking lot south of 287 and carpool over. Here’s a cache in the parking lot for reference: (visit link)

This area sometimes needs lots of clean up, and sometimes it doesn’t look too bad. Cooper is ALWAYS busy though, so use caution at all times.

Some AAH guidelines to know before you go:
· Volunteers must wear the safety vests provided by TxDOT during the cleanup.
· Volunteers must wear gloves. (Not provided)
· All children must be supervised, and children under 7 may not participate.
· Stay in the right of way, and only cross the roadway when necessary.

This is a rain or shine event! If you are hungry after the clean up, there are many choices for you on 287 east of Cooper and all up and down Cooper itself.

Please watch the event page for any updates! Thanks in advance!
