The volcanic hill of Todoque, with its 348 meters, is certainly no giant and appears rather inconspicuous compared to its powerful “siblings” in the surrounding area. For most tourists it may seem less appealing, yet it offers not only a pleasant view of the Aridane Valley and the lighthouse of La Bombilla, but also an impressive panorama of the highest volcanic peaks on the island of La Palma.
During the descent to the cache, yellow lichens on the rugged lava formations stand out, creating an intense glow in the afternoon sun and accentuating the dramatic lava ridges along the descent route.
About the Cache:
A new parking area has been added after the village of Todoque was buried under glowing lava during the volcanic eruption, rendering the former short ascent route inaccessible due to solidified lava masses. See the images in the hint section.
The cache is located approximately 4–5 meters below the descent path, underneath a large rock. Finding it requires some climbing skills and should only be attempted by individuals with appropriate experience.
The left turnoff to the cache lies—viewed from the summit—around 6 meters before a roughly two-meter-tall prickly pear cactus.
Caution: There is a significant risk of falling and slipping in this area. Please proceed with heightened awareness and maximum caution.

Der Vulkanberg von Todoque ist mit seinen 348 Metern zwar kein Riese und wirkt im Vergleich zu seinen mächtigen „Brüdern“ in der Umgebung eher unscheinbar. Für die meisten Touristen mag er wenig attraktiv erscheinen, doch bietet er neben einer schönen Aussicht auf das Aridane-Tal und den Leuchtturm von La Bombilla auch ein beeindruckendes Panorama auf die höchsten Vulkangipfel der Insel La Palma.
Beim Abstieg zum Cache fallen gelbe Flechten auf den schroffen Lavaresten ins Auge, die in der Nachmittagssonne ein intensives Leuchten erzeugen und die wildromantischen Lavazacken entlang des Abstiegsgrats eindrucksvoll hervorheben.
Zum Cache:
Der neue Parkplatz wurde eingetragen, nachdem das Dorf Todoque durch die Vulkanexplosion unter der glühenden Lava begraben wurde und der alte kurze Aufstiegsweg nun durch erstarrte Lavamassen versperrt ist. Siehe Bilder im Hint!
Der Cache befindet sich etwa 4–5 Meter unterhalb des Abstiegweges unter einem großen Stein. Das Auffinden erfordert etwas Klettergeschick und sollte nur von Personen mit entsprechender Erfahrung versucht werden.
Der Abzweig nach links zum Cache liegt – vom Gipfel aus gesehen – rund 6 Meter vor einem etwa zwei Meter hohen Blattkaktus.
Achtung: Absturz- und Rutschgefahr sind in diesem Bereich sehr präsent! Bitte seid besonders umsichtig und vorsichtig
