Welcome to Haunted Reeds Furnace – A NIGHT CACHE!!
For this cache you’ll be going into a place not many folks go…AT NIGHT!!!
As you turn onto Reeds Furnace road that states "NO WINTER MAINTANCE," SO USE CAUTION IF ITS SNOWING! A less steep and more paved road is Raymilton Rd which you then turn onto Reeds Furnace road and end up at the bottom of the hillm Raymilton rd is still a tough road to navigate when there's snow on it so USE CAUTION!
You will find yourself going along a LONG bumpy path until all of a sudden you don't see any houses or fields and you are driving down this narrow rocky hill with cliffs that are literally 200 feet high on both sides of you! Everything becomes VERY still...you will notice that not one leaf is moving on any of the trees and it's considerably darker! When you finally reach the unofficial location that they call "Reed's Furnace," you will find yourself going between 2 hills that lead up to paths where rail road tracks used to run. Over these 2 hills lied a bridge which has long been gone, a little girl was said to be hit by a train that was running on the bridge.
After you pass this location where the bridge used to be if you go about 20 yards you will find a parking area with rocks along the front so that you don't drive into the creek just ahead. When you get to the intersection, TURN LEFT you get to the parking lot. Do not block the gate, there’s plenty of room to park. You will notice a trail going back past the gate….this is the way to the 1st tack you’ll need to find in order to find the cache. Can you find the elusive Mr. Reed or will he and his band of spirits get the better of you??? Will the ghost dog come after you? Will the little girl appear for you? How many orbs will you spot if you take pictures?? WILL YOU LIVE TO TELL THE STORY!!!!
If you want to explore some, there’s another parking area near by with the old tracks continuing on down across the stream. It starts on the right side of the lot but don't bother going back here for it only goes back to an old bridge with deteriorating wood that you would probably fall through if you attempted to walk across it. There are stories of a young boy hanging himself from the wooden bridge. There are actually flowers placed there by family members so this may be true. Who knows what you may see……Do you dare to venture into the dark??
Stories I’ve found online about peoples experiences in Reeds Furnace
The little girl on the bridge:
I have seen her multiple times. One time as I was leaving I looked up the right hill path and saw her standing on a mound of dirt. Another time as I was driving away I saw her sitting where the bridge would have been with her feet dangling over. She looks to be about 10 to 12 years of age and she is wearing a white/pink colored dress.
Strange footprint:
I was down there twice on Saturday night because i lost my phone there and went back to find it. I was also there Sunday morning to look for my phone and showed my buddy the place last night. That's 4 times I've been down there in a few days. The first two times I was there, nothing happened. Sunday morning when I was down there I saw a footprint. No prints around it, just that one. And it wasn't a very heavy print; it went about an inch into 6 or 7 inches of fresh snow. It was a big foot though; it was bigger than my size 12 boot. It was also snowed in a bit so I'm assuming it was at least an hour prior, judging by the severe snowfall. When I got to the furnace itself, I saw nothing. Last night when I went down I heard nothing but the howl of a coyote. I'm not going to b.s. about a glowing owl that lets you play catch with it, but I did see that print, and I have a picture of it too that I can post
Oil tank orbs:
Last night about 10:00 pm myself, my dog & two of my friends armed with are camera & 2 flashlights decided to go for a ghost hunt, we parked to the left after the big hill by the creek. We walked to the left on RR for about 2 miles total. We took several pictures, many of which had orbs & ghost like fog. the first picture taking had several orbs in it, also we took one by the oil storage tanks & several ghostly faces , fog, & lots of orbs appeared, took a picture 5 seconds later & nothing at all. We are new to ghost hunting but really interested in this place, any information please share. Such as where the furnace, bridge, dam is? We didn’t find any of those but still had a great time & we were not ALONE!!!!!!!!!!! Thanks
Black robed figures:
Hmm, Read though most of the comments on this page. Generally spooky been there twice now. My question is just this, who are the people in the black robs. And why did they come after my vehicle. If this is some kind of prank you got me and a few friends really good. If not, I'm very deeply disturbed, and just wondering what goes on down there
Strange voices:
I have lived in this area for 22 years and i have been here many times every time i go there i always feel something and i cant explain what happens i have seen things there and i have done EVP down there and i have heard things saying get out and go away and one person asking for help.
Car problems:
I grew up in the area and lived around it my entire life I’ve been to the furnace but never seen anything there(at the furnace) though I have had my experiences for starters I read the other posts no one ever mention bout the lady and her son that was hit by the train on the RR bridge. The only things I’ve seen were a lady figure in a white dress a white flash pass by us and many orbs. I’ve also felt temp differences and strange feeling that you can’t explain. The things I have had happen to me was once my car wouldn’t start so my buddies and I pushed out to the road leading out and it started, another time it started but I couldn’t go more than like 5 until I passed a tree were a figure was standing and then the car took off and lastly once I lost my lights they worked fine going out and after we got out to the road kind of spooky. I did want to mention that the people who don’t think its haunted or never seen anything that’s because you’ve never believed in that stuff nor do u want to and if u don’t believe you wont see or hear anything. I have heard all the stories from the previous posts except for the glowing owl I never heard of that though I can’t say it’s not thru.
