There are so many places to explore, both modern and historical in downtown Frederick, Maryland. Have both in one place at the C. Burr Artz Library. Take the steps or the ramp to observe the interesting building and find a cache along the way.
The first library in downtown Frederick was opened in the YMCA in 1913. In 1938, after a significant amount of funds had been left to the city for the expressed purpose of opening a library, the first C. Burr Artz library was opened on Record St. in downtown Frederick. The library moved to its current location on East Patrick St. in 1982. By the late 1990s it had outgrown that building as well and was renovated; reopening in 2002 with more than double the space, a grand rotunda and beautiful surrounding gardens. This revitalization of the library was an important piece in the revitalization of the entirety of downtown Frederick that can be enjoyed both indoors and out.
*Always make sure to re-hide cache as well as you found it, this is a high traffic area.*
