Geocache Description:

Cache at the end of Royal Parkway

Ever hear the term "Geomatics" ? Probably not but you use it every time that you go out Geocaching. (The word typically used in normal day to day is Surveying.)

From Wikipedia: Geomatics is a relatively new scientific term with the intention of combining the terms geodesy and geoinformatics. It includes the tools and techniques used in land surveying, remote sensing, cartography, geographic information systems (GIS), global navigation satellite systems (GPS, GLONASS, Galileo, Compass), photogrammetry, geography and related forms of earth mapping. The term was originally used in Canada, because it is similar in origin to both French and English.

More information can be found at: (visit link)

I am a Geomatics Engineer (Survey Engineer) and many of you might wonder where I got my caching name "Geodimeter". Well the word is actually a survey instrument and its pronounced "Geo-De-Meter".

Did you also know that UNB Fredericton has a Geomatics Engineering program and its graduates work all over the world ?

This cache is dedicated to all of the men and women in the Geomatics Industry !
