Geocache Description:

Help Clean up around the Lake Serpentine Reserve

Start the year off with a couple of hours helping others and helping our local environment

Start Time of 10.30 am on site, 3rd Feburary 2013

Finish time of approx. 3.00-3.30pm on site

To assist in the newly formed project to establish a permanent fully protected reserve if assistance could be provided for the following activities;

1 Collect plastic bags that were left behind after a planting day (shouldn’t take too long). You will be provided with a rubbish sack for collection, once filled it can be returned to myself
2 Collect in wooden stakes from past plantings – Plenty to collect (could spend a whole day on that). Target of so may set 30 stakes per person to be collected and returned to a set point. (GPS Co-ordinates will be provided on the day for the stash location.
3 Plant some natives, Spades & Plants will be provided. Locations to plant will be provided on the day, Target of 3 plants per persons and give you locations of where we want them
4 Hand pull stinking iris (not as bad as it sounds, they pull out easy, and don’t really stink), I’ll provide gloves and bags, could make the task fill a black plastic bag.
5 Possibly (yet to confirm) shift some young flax that have been recently planted (might be where we want to put teal ponds)

Please Note:

  • I would suggest that sturdy boots or footwear be worn
  • If you have gardening gloves at home, and feel the need for gardening gloves please bring your own (some will be provided on the day).
  • While the running time for the CITO is approx 10:30am to 3:30pm you may not need to be there the entire time provided you are able to assist for a period on each of the above mentioned tasks.
