Following on from our series of caches along stage 1. Stage 2 of the Greytown-Woodside Trail is now under construction and will be completed soon. The distance of this section will be 2km when finished making the total walkway/cycleway to Cotter Street 4.4km. This stage is not open yet but the cache can still be reached along the paper road. The trail when finished will follow the old Greytown to Woodside branch railway (1880 - 1953). Running through farmland, stands of heritage trees and native plantings, with beautiful views of the Tararuas. The trail will apparently be wheelchair accessible but we wouldn't recommend it. Dogs must be on a leash and it is unsuitable for horses and motorbikes.
The Official opening of the Rail Trail is on Sunday Feb 3 from 11am, it will be a "Tweed Run" (www.tweedrun.com) and you are invited to don historic/vintage cycling attire for a fun day out.
The cache is an eclipse tin in a camo bag. Please re-hide it exactly where you found it and bring your own pen.
As usual please watch out for muggles who might also be using the path.
