They're racing..! June 8 1936...The Millicent Racing Club are holding their first race meeting on their new course..Land was donated by the Varcoe family for this purpose This racecourse holds many memories for us...Geo hubby...ex jockey.. ex owner/trainer... has done many laps of this track in the late 60's/early 70's...on the back of a horse....of course..! The dense scrub was cleared...The jockeys rooms/stewards rooms and secretary's office were transferred from the old site and erected on top of the hill overlooking the picturesque track A grandstand was built and 3 race meetings per year were held here until 1969 when this course was closed due to decentralization This course is the best wet weather training track in the SE and is maintained by the Millicent Racing Club Once log is signed...take the time to reflect on this picturesque course in its heyday...and imagine the thundering of hooves as they gallop past this spot A 'lucky horseshoe' from one of our racehorses is for FTF..!
