This Week's Excuse:
Not only is 1/3/13 a cool date, but it is also J.R.R. Tolkien day. Many, many cachers love the works of J.R.R. Tolkien, including The Hobbit.
"Not all those who wander are lost..." - J.R.R. Tolkien
Geocachers couldn't agree more, especially when the coordinates are tad bit off. If J.R.R. Tolkien were alive today, would he geocache?
Location:
Let's meet at Middle-Earth's Diner and have lunch from the "An Unexpected Journey" menu.
Address:
6441 S LINDBERGH BLVD
ST LOUIS, MO 63123
Why are we going to this location, instead of Sunset Hills??
Monk-e Arms is making the trip over from Illinois to co-host this event with Wh0M3.
Time:
It would be cool to meet at 13:00, but many cachers have to get back to work before then. So, we'll stick with the normal lunch time around noon. Then those who have to get back to the grind to be able to afford this addictive hobby, will be able to do so!
Other quotes that lead us to think that Tolkien would geocache...
“There is nothing like looking, if you want to find something. You certainly usually find something, if you look, but it is not always quite the something you were after.”
― J.R.R. Tolkien,
The Hobbit
“Short cuts make for long delays.”
― J.R.R. Tolkien, The Fellowship of the Ring
“A box without hinges, key, or lid,
Yet golden treasure inside is hid.”
― J.R.R. Tolkien, The Hobbit
