Geocache Description:

The geocache is not at the given coordinates.  To find the coordinates to the geocache, please solve this on-site puzzle.

The given coordinates take you to the War Memorial in the heart of downtown Greenbelt.  At the site is a plaque honoring those Greenbelt residents who died while serving this country in World War II, a memorial honoring those Greenbelt residents who died while serving this country in the Korean and Vietnam Wars, and a bench dedicated to "Generous Joe" a beloved citizen of the city of Greenbelt.  If you turn around, you will see the deli that he started in 1966.



Information from the War Memorial will be needed to figure out the final coordinates.

World War II Memorial
A = # of soldiers honored minus # of words in the 1st line after the "In Memoriam" title.

Korean/Vietnam War Memorial
B = # of soldier honored on the Vietnam War side of the Memorial
C = 3rd digit of year when Korean/Vietnam War Memorial was dedicated
D = 2nd digit in the Greenbelt Unit of the American Legion Auxiliary

Generous Joe Bench
EF = # of letters in phrase at the bottom of the plaque minus 3
G = # of letters in Generous Joe's last name minus 2

The coordinates to the final are N39 00.BCA  W076 5D.EFG.

The geocache is located around Greenbelt Lake in Buddy Attick Park.  You can get to the cache by walking through historic Greenbelt to the trail around Greenbelt Lake, or you can go to the parking at N39 00.304 W076 53.438. Depending on the weather, this walking trail can be fairly busy, so be mindful of muggles.
