Since all those cars are coming in, they need to be stored somewhere! Originally this seems to be at the port itself but out in the industrial area at Kembla Grange some rather large car yards have developed. There are some temporary ones but the large permanent one is fast taking shape.
It is expected that the site may have the capacity for about 70,000 vehicles a year, with plans for most cars to be stored for up to three weeks before they are distributed by car carrier to dealerships across NSW. There are also plans to eventually link the 14ha site to the rail network so vehicles can be transported to Sydney via rail, potentially reducing truck movements on Mt Ousley and Picton roads.
Whilst you're at the cache, feel free to grab a car (just a small one, a real one might get you into trouble :)).
