Millions of structures to celebrate the second millenium were constructed worldwide. Most were public projects, and there are an abundance of 'millenium parks' throughout the country. A small number were constructed by a handful of locals intent on marking the occasion. One of these is the magnificantly named AD 2000.
Kinsalebeg is a rural area, it is a half parish - sharing the full pie with Clashmore, and it is here and like places that a sense of community and community values have endured both the great economic depressions and blow-outs.
This structure is most appealing. Firstly, you could pass by without noticing. Secondly, its simplicity is enthralling. Thirdly, if you have the time and desire, you can safely sit and watch the world go by. And then your relaxed mind may wander and onserve the magnificant tree accross the road.
This structure was made by a handful of local residents intent on not letting an occasion of universal celebration pass them by, and their legacy endures.
