North highlands 1 Traditional Cache

Just a short hike from the winter parking spot. In the summer this road is open and although somewhat sandy it should be no problem for any vehicle. Cache is a small pill bottle painted black with log and very small trade items. A presidential gold dollar is for the FTF.
This cache is located in the Elephant Butte State Park near a road leading to A trail head for the West lake shore hiking trail. Access is off I-25 at exit 83 to 195 and then left on rock canyon road. A parks pass or day use pass is required. There is a self pay station located at the entrance gate. Permission to place this cache was by Kay Dunlap, park superintendent.
