Distinguished Residents of Buckinghamshire #8 Mystery Cache

This cache has been archived.

Birding Bob: I enjoyed putting together this series of puzzles based on distinguished people who have at some time resided in Buckinghamshire, learning something about them in the process. Visiting the caches to remove the containers is a process tinged with sadness but one that brought back many happy memories. Many thanks to those, more than a hundred in total, who took the trouble to solve the puzzles and visit this attractive area to search for the caches.

Geocache Description:

The eighth in a series of fourteen tributes to residents of Buckinghamshire that have distinguished themselves in their chosen sphere. The puzzles are designed to be solvable by anyone familiar with Google.

Person Iota, born in Wales to Norwegian parents, served as a fighter pilot during World War II, leaving with the rank of Wing Commander and being confirmed as a flying ace. Iota enjoyed a successful career as a writer of macabre short stories but this success was eclipsed by his reputation as a writer of children's stories, an activity he did not commence until he became a father. Several of his children's stories were made into movies. Most of his published works were written during his residence in Buckinghamshire for the thirty-six years until his death. Iota turned down the offer of an OBE, allegedly because he was hoping for a knighthood as he wanted his wife to be titled Lady Iota.

The stage name of Iota's first wife contains A B letters. She married Iota on CD mE yyFG.
H = A minus D
