On 23rd January, 1963, Youghal Bridge was officially opened by Niall Blaney, the Minister for Local Government. This fact is recorded on a plaque located at the Waterford end of the bridge.
Were it not for this bridge, travellers would have to go up river to Cappoquin, a journey of nearly 20 miles, and back down the other side. The bridge has 5 eyes, and is ageing well. During the Tiger years, plans were being made for a new replacement bridge. Those plans are well and truly shelved now.
Care should be taken when seeking the cache. You can park on the side road off the bridge, or in the nearby layby area in the Dungarvan direction. The cache is a plastic micro.
