This is one of ten caches placed for the 2013 Cache Across Maryland.
In celebration of the 10th Annual CAM, we are honoring the first MGS Cache Across Maryland by taking cachers back to the original 2004 CAM locations!
Each location was picked specifically by the original CAM hiders to give cachers a taste of the state and show you its beauty. By combining all ten, you'll be able to see why Maryland is truly "America in Miniature". We hope you enjoy them!
This cache is placed near the original CAM 2004 Montgomery County location GCJ1G2
hidden by Shady.
You are seeking a traditional cache, a clear Lock n Lock in this case. Follow the Seneca Greenway Trail the whole way to GZ, the cache is not far from the path. The hide is within Seneca Creek State Park so NO night caching please!
Seneca Creek State Park is home to several historic landmarks. Black Rock Mill is a partially restored mill in the park that includes exhibits featuring a history of area floods. The Seneca Schoolhouse is a restored 19th century schoolhouse which was built for area children of local quarry laborer. Parts of the park are located on land once a part of an estate owned by the Clopper Family. Near the Clopper Lake Day Use Area, The Woodlands, an area dedicated to commemorating life for the Clopper Family, offers visitors a look into life in the area in the 19th Century along a self-guided trail. Just west of where Seneca Creek empties into the Potomac is the Seneca Quarry. Remains of the stone cutting mill, built in 1837, still stand off Tschiffely Mill Road, though there are no interpretive signs. The mill cut the red sandstone for the Smithsonian Castle. Above the quarry site is the restored quarry masters house. Both are part of the state park.
