Geocache Description:

This is one of ten caches placed for the 2013 Cache Across Maryland.
In celebration of the 10th Annual CAM, we are honoring the first MGS Cache Across Maryland by taking cachers back to the original 2004 CAM locations!

Each location was picked specifically by the original CAM hiders to give cachers a taste of the state and show you its beauty. By combining all ten, you'll be able to see why Maryland is truly "America in Miniature". We hope you enjoy them!

This cache is placed near the original CAM 2004 Southern Maryland location GCJ0VK
hidden by the Last Lap Gang.

This cache is located near Historic St. Mary's City, the site of the fourth permanent settlement in British North America, Maryland's first capital, and the birthplace of religious toleration, invites you to explore the lifeways of Maryland's first citizens. A section of the community, Historic St. Mary's City, was declared a National Historic Landmark on August 4, 1969

St. Mary's City was founded in 1634 by a group of English settlers. They arrived on the ships Dove and Ark. Leonard Calvert, a Roman Catholic and younger brother of Cecilius Calvert, the 2nd Baron Baltimore, led the group of settlers. Originally land in the colony was given to their father George Calvert by King James I, but the senior Calvert died before the claim was established..

Parking is free at the visitor's center and it's a short walk to the trail head. The trail winds through a lovely park and by the water. Stay on the trail until you reach the Clockers bridge.

The cache is a short trek off the path from there. While you're there, visit the original 2004 CAM cache is you haven't already.
