The C & D canal is an important part of the Delaware/Maryland area. This historical marker needed a cache.
Built 1824-1829 this former 13-5/8 mile long lock canal connects the Chesapeake and the Delaware Bays. Nearby Chesapeake City was the canal's western terminus and steadily grew in the mid to late 19th century serving canal traffic.
This is a magnetic micro cache container that we had left over. Get out of the car and get a closer look at this historical waymark. Don't forget to take a picture and you and the marker. There is room to pull over to the side of the road next to the marker. BYOP
