Geocache Description:

Brockwell Park – Brockwell Hall

Brockwell Hall is a late Georgian Country House built between 1811-13 for John Blades, a wealthy Ludgate Hill glass maker, as the centre piece of his Park Estate. It replaced the old Brockwell Hall sited down by Norwood Road. The perimeter of today's Park reflects the boundary of the original estate.

Brockwell Hall has provided refreshments for park users since 1892. On the ground floor is a splendid 'Picture Room', only open to the public on special occasions, containing a number of paintings of rustic country scenes by the artist Henry Strachey.

The park is open from 7.30am till dusk daily, there is parking, but this can be very busy, there are plenty of side roads in which to park. All the paths are tarmac.
