Geocaching Seminar Event Cache

This cache has been archived.

WVTim: I've already formed a committee for next year. This is getting such a good turnout, I need to do a better job of giving options for cachers. So next year, there will be some changes coming. More breakouts with more topics. Including both a beginner GSAK as well as Advanced GSAK. And.... many more options.

Might even do a web page, for the seminar. So, hold the first week of March for next year. I am already looking forward to our 6th Seminar. Thanks to everyone who came.

Tim

Geocache Description:

Please join us for our 5th Annual Geocaching Seminar on Saturday March 2th 9:00 am - 12 noon at Independent Bible Church (IBC) just 2 miles west of I-81 in Martinsburg. Come meet some of your fellow cachers and participate in sessions led by some of our area's most experienced cachers. This is a great opportunity to bring some of your friends and neighbors who may have an interest in getting started.

We try to have something for every level of geocacher, from the beginner to the experienced cacher.

There will be 5 caches on the church property. "Come as you are" , "Safecracker" (A NEW one, and it's hard) , "Ant House", and "This Old House" (another NEW one) are active now. ( Last new one just added, "*some assembly required" !

Doors open at 8:30 am. PLEASE COME EARLY and enjoy some free coffee and donuts provided by our host Independent Bible Church. There will be no childcare provided, but children are welcome to attend sessions with you.

We will OPEN WITH A PANEL DISCUSSION using some of our seminar speakers and experienced cachers. This lively discussion will give you a chance to ask questions to experienced cachers.

First Breakout session

1. Geocaching 101 - How to get started  - Beginners - Snurt leading
2. Geocaching Software - GSAK explored - Rufnredy

Second Breakout Session

1.  Placing a Geocache - pointers on how to build or place a unique geocache - WVTim
2.  Begineers -We'll do the 4 caches on the property.
This is designed to give the new cachers some practical experience.
3.  Rufnredy will continue with GSAK part 2

I need some volunteers to act as a tour guide for the above beginners small groups, please let me know in your attend logs if you are willing to help!!!

Please bring those friends and neighbors wanting to know what caching is all about. We hope to have some visitors who want to understand the hobby we all enjoy. Some of our new cachers introduced to caching at this seminar in the last couple years now have hundreds of finds and are placing geocaches.

Be sure to let us know if you're coming and how many you'll be bringing so we'll know how many donuts to pickup.

A display of geocoins will be on hand, so bring your TB's and geocoins to show off or pass on. We will have a geocoin table where geocoins and TB's can be checked in and out safely.

Examples of geocaching paraphernalia, including GPS's, smart phones with geocaching ability, future geocaches, geopacks and more will be available for the new cacher to examine. Everyone, please bring any show and tell items.
