Geocache Description:

Visalia Pocket Park Cache Series #6 - This cache is part of my first series celebrating all of the small mini-parks throughout Visalia and their associated history. This one in particular is placed in an area that has some significant history in the development of Visalia's west side.

This cache is placed near an area with a nice view, somewhere that you can rest a bit, and somewhere that allows you to search for the cache while sitting down and avoiding all muggle suspicion. The hint is a simple alpha-numeric code, if you really need one. FTF Prize is piglet trinket. BYOP

In 1890, the area around where Caldwell and Akers are today, was just part of the huge Oak forest that made up the area in and around Visalia. In about 1892 Tipton Lindsey (no connection with the towns of Tipton or Lindsay), a prominent Visalian with strong connections to Visalia’s schools purchased 200 acres and developed it into a “model fruit farm” and it became known as Lindwood or Linwood Colony. His son(s) got involved as well.
