A pleasent walk along the banks of the river derwent and up onto the derwent walk,passing through blackhall mill,ebchester and hamsterley.
the title of the cache refersto a local legend of roman treasurehidden in the 5th century. it's reputed to be hidden in a cave in an iron chest.
to date none has been found.
The walk takes you along the banks of the river with some quite steep drops,so care should be taken if you have children with you and there is also farmland sometimes planted with crops and at times grazing animals,so please follow the country code.
this section of track is not suitable for buggies or cycles.
