A small traditional cache placed in the Abel Tasman National Park.
Simonet Creek flows into Apple Tree Bay about 3.5 km along the coastal track from the Marahau end.
I've placed this cache a shortish creek hop up the creek to encourage a bit of off track exploration. I didn't measure how far up the creek I went exactly. The bridge is certainly out of site from where the cache is. I went about as far as I could before reaching quite a broad pool. Its probably about 100m.
You may be able to avoid getting your feet wet on the way but it may also just be easier to splash on up the stream.
Take great care as you go as some of the rocks are quite slippery.
Cache is a 400ml Sistema container with log, pencil, eraser and room for small swaps.
GPS reception not great near the cache site so when you get close here's the scene looking upstream.
There is a broad part of the stream or a pool in front of you which you probably couldn't get across without getting wet. To your right there are a few round boulders. Clamber up to the right and look in the steep walls for a rocky crevice, roughly V shaped. There is a loose rock covering a hole where the cache is resting.
