Geocache alla scoperta del fiume Tanaro e del suo parco. / Geocache for discover the Tanaro river and his park.

Il Tanaro, conosciuto come Tanarus in tempi antichi, è un fiume lungo 276 km del nord-ovest Italia. Nasce nelle Alpi Liguri, vicino al confine con la Francia, è uno dei più importante affluenti del Po di destra in termini di lunghezza, grandezza del bacino e scarico.
La sorgente del Tanaro è in Liguria alla confluenza di due piccoli torrenti che nascono in Piemonte: il Tanarello e il Negrone.
La principale fonte del Tanarello si trova sulle pendici del Monte Saccarello sopra Monesi, un villaggio appartenente al comune di Triora.
Le fonti del Negrone sono a circa 10 km a nord, molto vicino al confine con la Francia e il sud di Punta Marguereis.
Gli affluenti principali del Tanaro sono la Stura di Demonte da sinistra, e la Bormida e Belbo da destra.
Il Tanaro scorre oltre la città di Ceva, Alba, Asti e Alessandria prima di entrare nel Po vicino a Bassignana in provincia di Alessandria.
Il fiume è altamente soggetto ad inondazioni. Durante il periodo di 200 anni 1801-2001 le parti del bacino del Tanaro sono state colpite da inondazioni in 136 occasioni, le più devastanti sono state quelle del novembre 1994, quando tutta la valle del fiume è stata colpita da gravi inondazioni e la città di Alessandria è stato particolarmente colpita .

The Tanaro, known as Tanarus in ancient times, is a 276 km-long river in northwestern Italy. It rises in theLigurian Alps, close to the border with France and is the most significant right-side tributary to the Po in terms of length, size of drainage basin and discharge. . The Tanaro proper begins in Liguria at the confluence of two small torrents whose sources are in Piedmont: the Tanarello and the Nerone. The main source of the Tanarello is on the slopes of Monte Saccarello above Monesi, a village belonging to the commune of Triora. The sources of the Negrone are some 10 km to the north, very close to the French border and south of Punta Marguereis. The main tributaries to the Tanaro are the Stura di Demonte from the left, and the Bormida and Belbo from the right. The Tanaro flows past the towns Ceva, Alba, Asti and Alessandria before entering the Po near Bassignana in the Province of Alessandria. The river is highly prone to flooding. During the two hundred year period 1801–2001 parts of the Tanaro basin were affected by floods on 136 occasions, the most devastating being those of November 1994 when the whole of the river valley was affected by severe flooding and the town of Alessandria was especially stricken.
