Geocache Description:

Heading from Ballyduff to Fermoy, there is an ancient church and graveyard located in the middle of a field. A small adjacent road on the Ballyduff side leads you to a remote lay-by and woodland walks.

Mocollop was a centre of importance when the Earls of Desmond controlled a huge swart of Munster, ranging from Kerry to Waterford. The nearby Mocollop Castle was an important part of their empire. It is believed that the 7th Earl died here and is buried in the old graveyard.

Both Catholics and Protestants were for centuries buried in the old graveyard, and without anyone thinking this was abnormal.

The cache is a regular-sized tupperward box, and is located by a sharp turn on a narrow woodland path. When you park up, you will cross two wooden bridges (both worse for wear, but still up to the task) and follow the pathway. Be very careful of wet and slippery leaves. The trees made the co-ords very jumpy, but there is no need to move from the path.
