This is the Throckmortan County cache in a twelve part series of caches highlighting historical locations in the twelve counties of the Boy Scout’s North West Texas Council. Each cache is themed with a point in the Scout Law. This was done as my Eagle Project.
The great Western Trail came through this area and many ranches in this area made a lively hood from the doomed live stock or “drags.” Drovers sold or gave these cattle to ranchers because they were hurt or too weak to make the entire trek. Modern U.S. Highway 183 follows the exact route of the trail from Throckmorton to Seymour
