This is stop number fourteen on our way around Alabama in order to complete the Alabama State Parks Geo Challenge! Alabama has 22 state parks that have now hidden caches in their parks for the Geo Challenge.
There is a $2 fee for visitors who are not registered Park guests.
Event time 10 am to 12:30 pm This is the last event of a three day caching adventure on the Gulf Coast of Alabama. Which starts at Gulf State Park on Friday night with ASPGC Stop #13 - Gulf. Followed Saturday with Hard Core Event II, Picnicking with the Gators Event II, Gator Bait CITO. Then ending with this event on Sunday at Meaher State Park.
The cache coordinates will take you to the Pavilion where we will all gather for fun and fellowship with cachers from the Mobile area and a final farewell for those who have traveled far to enjoyed the weekend of caching at the Gulf. We will play a game called Geo-Poker with 5 unpublished caches hidden in the park just for the day of fun. Each person will be given a list of the coordinates for these 5 caches at the game table in the pavilion.
GEO-POKER – OFFICIAL RULES
Go to each of the 5 listed coordinates to find each ammo can. In each can are sealed envelopes with one card in each envelope. Take only ONE envelope from each of the five cans you find. To make sure that all your cards are from the same deck, the envelopes have been marked #1, #2, #3.... You can pick any one of these numbers you want to play. But make sure that whichever number you take from your first find, that you take that same number from each of the other 4 cans. So that all of your envelopes have the same # written on the front. DO NOT OPEN your envelopes. Take your envelopes back to the game table at the Pavilion where a Geo-Poker Official will witness you open the cards and sign your geonick on the back of each card. This will be your poker hand. Scoring will be done based on this hand according to the Official World of Poker Rules. Prizes will be awarded at 12:30 pm at the Pavilion.
Opening your envelopes or trading envelopes will result in your disqualification.
What is the Alabama State Parks Geocaching Challenge? This challenge is being done by the Alabama State Parks of the Alabama Department of Conservation and Natural Resources and will include all 22 state parks. A new geocache (one of the following type: traditional, puzzle, letter box or multi) is being hidden at each of the state parks. Most of the caches, if not all, will be of the creative type that is regular size containers or larger. Each cache will have a log book, trade items and all are kid friendly. Also, each one will have information or a code that will be needed for the final puzzle cache for the Alabama State Parks Geocaching Challenge. Once a cacher has all the information they will be able to solve the final Challenge Puzzle Cache. Anyone that solves the final puzzle will receive a geocoin that has been made for this challenge. The only way to get this coin will be to complete the challenge.
Visit (Alabama State Parks) http://www.alapark.com/Parks/ for more information about the parks. Hope to see you there!
