Granny's Pool Traditional Cache

This cache has been archived.

ipodmusicman: I cannot believe that I placed this cache in December 2012. 10 years ago!

The cache has gone missing AGAIN and I’ve decided to call it a day and archive this cache. It hasn’t had much activity over the past few years or so.

Although I still come down here every year, I am unable to continue to maintain it during the year although there has been a few who have assisted in cache replacement. This spot has become very popular over the years with many muggles enjoying the beach here.

Hopefully somebody else can place a new cache here some day.

Geocache Description:

This cache will bring you to a very nice little beach tucked away in Port Edward.

The facts surrounding how Granny's Pool came to be are a bit sketchy, but it is said that the formation of this little child (and probably granny) friendly and safe pool is due to a guy named Spiro and other farmers who took loads of dynamite and blew the rocks to pieces to create this pool.
Spiro sold property in Port Edward to farmers in the area. Some of the stones blasted away were used in the construction of rondavels on these properties. Some of these rondavels are still present which have been added to as owners have changed hands and built their homes.
This used to be called Rex's Pool at one time. If anybody has any solid facts about Granny's Pool, please do let me know. This little gem is well cherished by the locals and during the holiday season, Granny's Pool has become a very popular beach to visitors to Port Edward over the years.

The cache - it should be easy to find and I hope the co-ords are not too out due to the difficulty in getting stable co-ords with my iPhone. Please replace exactly as found and make sure that there are no holiday muggles around otherwise the cache will be muggled. This beach is generally quiet during the year. If you are here during December, come very early. Who knows? I might be there to say HI.

A tube inside a Ziplock bag awaits you.  Please bring your own pen.
It is advisable to do the cache during daylight hours.
