Geocache Description:

Please do not post specific hints, comments or photos about the hide or container.

After chasing all those Reindeer, littleblkdog wanted to leave another type of animal for people to find.  So after she visited Rudolph, she stopped by here to leave a ruminanting, even-toed ungulate for you to find.  They are normally herd animals but this one is solo. Solo or in a herd, you will probably have to do a different type of ruminating to find this cache.

It might feel like you are in a backyard area but you are still in the park.  The signal bounce is really bad here so be sure to let your GPSr settle down.  It is not uncommon to have errors of up to 30 feet and that contributes to the difficulty level.

To assist in narrowing down the approach, parking coordinates are provided. From the parking area, walk down the left hand side (the side without a sidewalk) of Volmerhausen to Murray Hill and take the White Blazes which will lead you close to the cache. The White Blaze trailhead is about halfway between the parking coordinates and Murray Hill road. Once at the trailhead, take the short but slightly steep hill down the trail and across the small stream. About .25 miles from the trailhead the White Blazes veers up a hill to the left which will put the river on your right. Or you could take the sewer line easement to the right off the White Blazes which despite its name is a nice trail along the river.

Another option would be to find Deep Smoke. You could bushwhack from there which would probably be pretty easy in the Winter but not advisable in the fuller growth of summer.

Or you could also use the parking area for the Wincopin access at Savage Park which is also the White Blazes but not until you reach the end of the Yellow Blazes (this will take you over that notorious bridge). Please do not attempt this from the residential roads above the cache. Other than the CA trail to Deep Smoke, there are NO official trails from the roads that would not be trespassing.

Of course, please be careful retrieving.  Copperheads have been a problem in the park in the past so please watch yourself.
