Geocache Description:


"Koiwa Iris Garden" is a flower garden. You can go enter by free. You can see 50,000
of beautiful Iris flowers in May and Jun. Also there is an open space next to this
park. You will see many families visiting here on Spring and Autumn seasons.

This place is also famous because of insectivorous plant called "Mujina Phycomycete"
(Aldrovanda vesiculosa). This is the place where Mujina Phycomycete was 1st
discovered in world. It used to live here but it disappeared because of the flood.
You can only see the monument of it's discovery.

Near JR bridge, you can see motorcycle training field. The teacher is a motorcycle
policeman. It opens on every 1st,3rd Sunday. You can join if you reserve at Koiwa
Police. See the photo.

For the Geocacher, this is very good place because of free parking, free toilets and
free drinking water. You can drive by a car with the bicycle and visit many
places such as Edogawa, Mizumoto Park and Ichikawa city. Also the cycling
road exist on the bank of the river. This road passes along Shibamata
Taishaku-ten. Be careful, the gate of the parking space will be closed at 17:00 in
winter, little bit later in another season.

The cache is hidden within 1 meter from the edge of the river. The shape of the land
of the Google Map seems somewhat wrong. Beleive in GPS location. Bring your own pen.

小岩菖蒲園は江戸川の河川敷に作られた無料の公園です。5月と6月のシーズンには5万本の
きれいな菖蒲が咲き誇り菖蒲祭が催されて多くの見学者でにぎわいます。隣接して広い芝生の
公園もあり春秋の天気の良い土日には沢山のファミリーが憩いの一時を過ごしています。

ここにはもう１つムジナモという食虫植物が発見された場所としても有名です。発見したのは有名な
植物学者の牧野富太郎博士で、この発見により博士の名前が世界に知られるきっかけになり
ました。この藻は非常に珍しくて天然記念物に指定されていたのですが洪水で流されてしまい
現在はその記念碑が置かれています。

少し下流のJR陸橋の下には白バイ隊員が指導してくれる二輪車訓練場があり第一、第三日曜日
には腕に自慢のライダーが来ていますのでこれも見ものです。小岩警察署の交通課に電話予約
すればあなたも参加できます。写真参照。

この小岩菖蒲園の特筆すべき点は無料の広い駐車場、トイレそして水場があることです。
ジオキャッシャーにとっては車に自転車をつんで来てここに駐車し江戸川方面、さらに足
を伸ばして都立水元公園、市川方面まで自転車で訪問することが可能です。江戸川土手の上
には舗装されて走りやすいサイクリングロードが整備されています。このサイクリングロードの
途中には柴又帝釈天もあります。但し駐車場には門限があり冬場は17:00（それ以外のシーズン
はもう少し遅い）にゲートが閉じられてしまうので注意が必要です。駐車場は蔵前通り下り線が
土手と交差するポイント、鉄橋の直前、が入り口です。

キャッシュはこの公園の川沿いのどこかに隠されています。キャッシュは河岸から1メーター以内の
ところにあります。Google Mapの地形は少しずれているのでGPSの座標またはGoogleMapの
航空写真を信じて捜索してください。ペンが入っていないのでお持ちください。
