Geocache Description:

There’s a new lake to explore in McAllen.

Come on out and take a hike around the lake. You might want to bring a bicycle if you are in a hurry. On weekends you can even rent a paddleboat, canoe, or kayak to explore the waters. Fishing is allowed in the lake, but you must return your catch to the lake. Lake banks are low and the water at the edge is shallow. This is a perfectly safe place to teach your children about fishing.
You may see some black waterfowl with white bills on the water and on the land. These are Coots. They swim in the canal and in the lake in search for food. They also roam the grounds around the lake. Watch where you step, they are not house broken.
