This is the first cache in a series celebrating and acknowledging the Riley County Rural Volunteer Firemen/women and stations. There are 16 stations throughout rural Riley County. These stations are manned by about 170 local volunteers and house 1-3 fire trucks.per station The volunteers are on call 24 hours a day and respond to brush and structure fires, as well as, car accident and other emergency calls as needed. In 2012, they responded to over 400 calls.
Each station holds monthly trainings, and each firefighter must complete annual mandated training hours. Bring your own pen.
