Valanghe

Il 12 febbraio 1951 il paese di Airolo veniva investito da una valanga. Oggi sono diverse le misure a preotezione del paese a favore del villaggio. Sulle piste da sci il rischio però rimane e gli escursionisti devono prestare attenzione. Oltre a una lettura attenta del bollettino diramato quotidianamente dall'SLF è necessaria una conoscenza dei luoghi, del terenno e delle condizioni. Per finire è importante anche un equipaggiamento adeguato, composto da un'ARVA, una sonda e una pala. L'ARVA è un dispositivo attivo che emette continuamente un segnale a ultrasuoni che può essere sentito e quindi cercato con altri apparecchi. In questo modo qualora qualcuno rimanesse seppellito i compagni potrebbero individuarlo rapidamente. Dapprima con la sonda per poi recuperarlo con la pala.

Allarme!

31 dicembre 2012, una piccola valagna seppellisce un geocache. La chiamata d'aiuto è arrivata a Groundspeak che ha ricevuto pure le coordinate del seppellito. È stato quindi diramato un avviso a tutti i "first responders" sul territorio! Ora tocca a te andare a recuperare la vittima della valanga.


Qualche informazione supplementare

Questo cache si può raggiungere in una bella escursione a piedi con le racchette (ciaspole) partendo da Nante oppure prendendo la funivia fino a Pesciüm. Da qui bisogna camminare qualche centinaio di metri.

Si può anche cercare il cache tra una discesa e l'altra, in questo caso per tornare sulle piste perfettamente battute bisogna fare "scaletta" per circa 100m su un dislivello di qualche decina di metri. 

Per agguantare la cache una pala è indispensabile, ma una sonda vi faciliterà enormemente il compito, visto che le coordinate possono non essere precise al centimetro e la "valanga" piuttosto estesa.

Avalanches

February the 12th, 1951, the village of Airolo was swept by an avalanche. Today there are many measures against avalanches. On the mountain the risk is still high and you have to be careful when leaving the slopes. You have to read the daily SLF bulletin, and know the terrain very well. You also need an avalanche transceiver (ARVA), a probe and a shovel. The ARVA is a device that emits radio signals that can be use to find and rescue people buried under avalanches. Then, once located, the person would have to be precisely localized with the probe and finally saved with the shovel.

Emergency!

December the 31st 2012, a small avalanche has buried a geocache. Groundspeak has received its the coordinates and it is asking geocachers to go and save it! Now it is up to you!


Additional informations

This cache can be reached with a nice excursion with snowshoes from Nante or taking the cablecar up to Pesciüm. From there are just some hundred meters left.

You can also look for the cache while skiing, in this car you will have to climb back 100m to the slopes. 

To get the cache a shovel is required, a probe is also strongly recommended! The GPS coordinates aren't very accurate and without the probe the search could take a while.
