The trail is comfortably wide and generally flat leading passed the town of South Hadley's "Judd Reservation" to the state park. Located on sandy glacial till and outwash deposits along the range's footslopes, beyond the cache it leads to trails accessing the south slope and western shoulder of Mt. Hitchcock (Elevation 1005 feet) and further to Lithia Springs Reservoir or road.
A couple of South Hadley town boundary stone posts are nearby. Be aware the trail may be frequented by snowmobiles in the winter. Park at a large turn out on Old Mill Lane adjacent to Route 116 (Amherst Rd.) - you will see an informational sign for trail access - and walk down the road to gated trail access. The cache is a small round plastic jar which shouldn't be too hard to find. The cache is accessible in winter but not necessarily winter friendly.
Enjoy the walk and leave nothing but footprints - I left a few in the snow.
Congratulations to Wolcott29 for being the first to find!
