2013 Genesee County Parks Event
The Auto City Cachers and the Genesee County Parks would like to invite you to attend the 2013 Genesee County Parks Event. This is our 3rd annual event in the county parks! This year's event will be held at Cummings Center (Genesee County Fairgrounds). Camping spaces are abundant. Stay two nights. There are plenty of geocaches nearby! Event Schedule - Cummings Center
9:00 AM Registration - Register, get your prize drawing tickets and meet with caching friends for good conversation. Trade your stories, tags and trackable items. Raffle tickets for cool stuff will be available also. Each geocaching team will receive one free event tag during registration!
10:00 AM GPS Loading - We will begin the process of loading your GPS with all of the new unpublished geocaches. (One GPS per person max.) There will be at least 40 new geocaches to add to the more than 100 existing Genesee County Park geocaches!
10:00 AM - 5:00 PM Geocache Hunting - Time to hit the parks and find as many caches as you can! Most of the new geocaches will be concentrated near the northeast part of the county. We have decided to hide these new caches Belle Isle Style - near current geocaches that we had hidden for previous events. The old geocaches will be archived and the new ones will be published after the parks close for the evening.
5:00 PM - 5:45 PM Potluck Dinner - Bring a dish to pass. We are supplying the hotdogs, buns, condiments, paper plates, utensils and napkins.
5:45 PM Prize Drawings - Our sponsors have donated lots of cool prizes! Have your winning ticket ready!
6:30 PM Geocache Hunting - There's still plenty of daylight. Go find a few more geocaches - if you're up to it!

Important information that will help to make this event a big success as last year's event was. The total number of brand new caches we have hidden is 61! Six of them are in Linden County Park to the south and 55 are near the event.
In regard to seating, there may be a shortage of seating under the canopy. If you are able to bring some chairs and/or an easy-up or canopy it would help in that regard.
This is important: Bring the cable for your GPS. We have many cables, but may not have the one that fits your GPS. Don't be the guy without one!
For the pot luck dinner, the Auto City Cachers will be supplying the Koegel's hotdogs, condiments, buns, plates, cups, bowls, napkins, utensils, water and lemonade. You supply a dish of your choice. Please post a note on the event page as to what you are bringing so we don't have all deserts, etc! There are plenty of electrical hook-ups for hot dishes.
Be sure to load your GPS with any existing park caches that you may wish to search for during the event. Some of them will be archived at 6:00pm on event day to make room for the new caches which should be published about 10:00pm. You will still be able to search for any of these archived caches throughout the weekend. They will be removed sometime in the week following the event. This is what we call "Belle Isle Style".
Finally, for those of you seeking FTFs, we will collect your GPS beginning at 9:00am, load the new caches onto your devices and return them as orderly as we can at 10am. Then let the mad rush begin! We try to be as fair as we can in this regard.
