This cache was placed along a fairly recent section of the Ice Age National Scenic Trail, that joins the Northern and Southern sections of the Holy Hill segment, between Pleasant Hill Road and Shannon Road. Please do not park on Pleasant Hill Road, as there is no parking there; but park on Shannon Rd at a small parking area just west of where the trail intersects Shannon Road.
My family and I have been coming to this area since the late 1960's and we have many happy memories of visiting my aunt and uncle, who live nearby and furnished a strip of their land to the trail system. The national trail was designated a National Scenic Trail in 1980 and highlights Wisconsin's ice age heritage and scenic beauty. This section crosses woods, meadows and farm edges. There is a small bench near the cache site where one can sit and contemplate the natural beauty of the area. There is another cache between here and the parking area, and then more caches south of the parking area. If attempted in winter, it could be more difficult, as the cache site may be covered with snow. Snowshoes or X-country skis would be a definite plus.
