Geocache Description:

THIS IS A NIGHT-TIME CACHE. The posted coords are the starting point of the trail. While the cache is not at the exact location of the U.F.O. sighting, it is VERY close (within a couple miles) to the area where the event below took place.

In 2008, the Discovery Channel aired a program called "UFOs over Earth." The program was a one hour presentation of MUFON's findings on an extremely compelling case of UFO sightings, an alien encounter, and possible alien abduction. The events of this case took place in Fayetteville, North Carolina in January of 2007. The main eyewitness and possible abductee was Chris B. Sr. Other key witnesses were Chris B. Jr., Donny A., Gene R. and David M.

Case Details

Chris Sr., Donny, Gene and David were fishing on the banks of Cape Fear River. Chris Sr. took a short walk up the road leading from the river bank. He soon sighted two orange UFOs in the sky, which were soon joined by a third. Terrified by what he saw, he hurried back down to the river bank to tell his friends. He truly believed that he had only been gone about twenty minutes. The three fishermen had begun to worry after Chris, Sr. had been gone for 3 or 4 hours, so two of them drove up and down the road looking for him, but saw him nowhere. Where could he have been for that amount of time? There was, without a doubt, some time missing during Chris’ walk. His three friends had also spotted the three unknown objects in the sky, and felt that they were being invaded. It was noted that the three objects slowly disappeared behind trees on the other side of the river. They were so frightened that they dropped their fishing gear where they stood, ran to their trucks, and sped away down the road. As they arrived at a nearby intersection, they saw the lights again, and also a larger, oblong-shaped object with protruding spikes around it.

Aliens in the Woods

As an apprehensive Chris arrived home, he heard his dogs barking and went out to his backyard to see what the dogs were upset about. He saw his Retriever rush into the woods, with the other dogs in pursuit. Chris joined the hunt and after a short period of time, he was startled to come upon a small entity standing directly in front of him! He was close enough to lean over and touch it. He described the being as about 3 feet tall with red eyes and appearing as if it had been dipped in glass. As the other dogs arrived at Chris’ location the entity disappeared. At about the same time, Chris Jr. was out in his backyard and he claimed that he saw two, red orbs floating through the forest, soon followed by several of the small aliens emerging from the woods.

The Investigation

The MUFON team was extremely impressed with Chris Sr. as an honest, reliable individual and were determined to further investigate the sightings, the missing time, and attempt to find out if Chris Sr. had indeed been the victim of alien abduction. Their first course of business was to contact the other three fishermen. The accounts given by Donny, Gene and David all agreed that they had seen the three UFOs, and the larger oblong-shaped object, stating that they watched the objects for as long as ten minutes as they hovered in the sky. Two of the men had seen flares before, and were certain that the objects were not flares. They all related their account of Chris Sr. being gone for 3-4 hours, looking for him, and him finally coming back to their fishing spot with his account of the three UFOs.

The next course of action for MUFON was to have Chris Sr. undergo regressive hypnosis to unlock hidden memories. He recounted that he had been taken captive by four tall, thin aliens. He estimated their height as 7 foot. He also recalled his surroundings as an oval, dark room full of lights and controls. During his abduction, he learned that the smaller beings his son had seen and encountered in the woods, were actually children of the taller aliens. MUFON was extremely pleased with the results of the hypnosis sessions, and it encouraged them to take the investigation a step further. They next brought in a Psychiatric Social Worker to discover if Chris had any psychological or mental problems that would cause him to make up such an incredible story. After interviewing him, and putting him through a number of tests, there was no doubt that Chris was sound of mind.

All evidence to this point in the investigation pointed to a well documented case of a UFO sighting, missing time, and alien abduction. There would be just one more test for Chris, a polygraph examination. MUFON was confident that he would have no problem with this final part of the investigation, believing fully in his honesty and sincerity. The polygraph would be administered by a well respected examiner.

The polygraph results were discouraging.

The examiner reported that Chris had been deceptive on several questions. This definitely put a damper on the authenticity of the case. The question has to be asked: How could Chris Sr. have pulled off his regression hypnosis and psychological test so well, but fail his polygraph? There could be one good reason for this: Chris’ own uncertainly about what he had experienced. Going into the test with doubts, it would be normal for him to answer some of the questions with uncertainty. Polygraphs are not an exact science, to say the least. If we take the examiner’s findings as truth, we have several other questions to answer. What about the three fishermen's accounts? Were they part of a conspiracy to pull off a UFO hoax? Was Chris Jr. just making up his story to make his father's account seem legitimate? The MUFON team, baffled by the results of the polygraph, still believed that Chris Sr. was sincere in telling his story. He was a successful builder, commercial pilot, and well respected in his community. The only way one could bring the case to a definitive conclusion would be to have him take another polygraph at a time when he has come to terms with what happened to him.

The events of Fayetteville, North Carolina, are unresolved at this time. Possibly Chris Sr. can take that second polygraph and pass it, tying up the one loose end, which would make this case one of the best documented accounts of alien abduction in UFO history.
