Ariogala yra viena seniausių Lietuvos gyvenviečių, žinoma nuo 1252 ar 1253 metų (minima Eregalle žemė), daug kartų buvo niokojama kryžiuočių. Minima Mindaugo raštuose. XIV amžiuje buvo medinė Ariogalos pilis,1382 m. sudeginta kryžiuočių. Vytauto laikais čia buvo Ariogalos dvaras. Po Žalgirio mūšio Ariogalai atsirado geresnės sąlygos augti, todėl apie 1416 m. čia buvo pastatyta pirmoji Ariogalos bažnyčia.
Ariogala is one of the oldest settlements in Lithuania, known from 1252 and 1253 (referred to Eregalle earth), has been repeatedly devastated the Crusaders. Referred Mindaugas writings. Fourteenth century was a wooden castle Ariogala, 1382. burnt by the Crusaders. Vytautas was here Ariogala mansion. After the Battle of Grunwald Ariogala appeared easier to grow, resulting in about 1416. Here was built the first church Ariogala.
