Geocache Description:

Der cache ist nicht an den angegebenen Koordinaten, sondern dort ist ein Parkplatz / the cache is not at the posted coordinates, but you will find a parking lot there.

Im vergangenen Jahrhundert waren das Strandhotel und das Strand-Café in der Murnauer Bucht des Staffelsees gesellschaftliche Treffpunkte. Im Winter wenn der Staffelsee zugefroren war, trafen man sich zum Eisstockschießen, Schlittschuhlaufen und zu den regelmäßig stattfindenden Eisrennen. Dabei kam die Idee auf, zur weiteren Erhöhung der Attraktivität am steilen Nordufer des Staffelsees eine Skisprungschanze zu bauen. Diese Pläne wurden zwar nicht ausgeführt, jedoch wurde 1924 eine Schanze 3 km weiter westlich errichtet, die "Berggeistschanze". Im Jahr 1951 wurde der Rekord von 43,0 m aufgestellt!

Zur Erinnerung daran gibt es diesen cache. Die Koordinaten müßt ihr errechnen an Hand des Ergebnisses des diesjährigen (2013) Neujahrs-Skispringens in Garmisch-Partenkirchen:

Eighty years ago there were hotels, a beach club, and cafés at Murnau's bay of the Staffelsee. In winter artists and the wealthy came here for ice skating, curling, and ice racing on the frozen lake. In order to increase the attraction even further, plans were made for a ski jump arena. The idea was to use the naturally steep grade of the North shore of the Staffelsee. The palns were not carried out. However, in 1921, a ski jump was built about 3km to the West from here. A record was set in 1951 with 43.0 m!
This cache is dedicated to this ski jump. You will have to calculate the coordinates of the cache using the results of this year's (2013) "Neujahrs-Skispringen" in Garmisch-Partenkirchen.

Add his ranking to the north coordinates of this listing and you will get X.

One of the competitors lives only a few hundred yards from the ski jump in Garmisch. How old was he at the 2013 ski jump in Garmsich? Subtract his age from the east coordinates of this listing and you will get Y.
