The focus of this year’s event is: hiding quality caches.
We want as many cachers as possible to visit as many of the caches during the weekend as possible.
So this year it’s not about the numbers, it’s about the fun!
We have 30 to 50 caches, in several prize categories.
Steps for a great family event:
1. HIDE A QUALITY CACHE or TWO (time is short)
Starting immediately, get out in the winter sunshine and start hiding caches.
This year’s theme is up to you the cacher.
Pick something that inspires you or has brought joy to your family.
See prize categories and or suggest a new category.
All CARW2013 caches should be medium or large sized. Of course, all caches must contain a log book, and should have a pencil and some trading items. Micro and Nano caches will require CO permission. No Premium only hides (convert after the event please), and please DO NOT USE your smart phone to hide a cache. All CARW2013 caches must be winter friendly.
(Winter-friendly over-rules cache size, please consult CO)
The cache placement radius limit this year will accommodate the quality focus. (graphic displays a radius similar to last year’s radius)
All cache pages should include a Reviewer's Note, and MUST include CARW2013 at the end of the title. For example, “City of Champions Cache (CARW2013)” would suffice.
Please help “Cache Effect” in making your submissions as complete as possible and ensure they are submitted no later than Wednesday, 21 February 2013. Cache pages should use the following text (box not required):
1. This CARW2013 cache will be published about 6:00pm on Thursday, 28 February 2013.
2. Please remember that caches CANNOT be hunted until 9:00 AM SATURDAY 2 March 2013.
3. Should you hunt and find this cache prior, it will not count for the event, and FTF points are only valid as of 9:00 AM 2 March 2013.
4. Please consider this cache as nominated for the -first ever placed cache by a cacher, category-.
2. NOMINATE YOURSELF FOR A CACHE HIDER CATEGORY (new this year) This year's event focus is good winter caches that everyone can enjoy. Remember you must nominate yourself for a category. TWO things are required, one: on your cache page say which prize category you are trying for, and send a email to the event owners to help put together the score-sheets. The main prize categories are focused on the hiders.
3. FIND SOME CACHES and VOTE Scoring sheets will be available late February once all the caches have been submitted. Be sure to watch this page for the location of the event’s cache wrap-up location, the log-book will be at the wrap-up.
4. ATTEND THE WRAP-UP and HAND IN YOUR VOTE SHEETS
EVENT WRAP-UP START TIME: 1430 hrs 3 March 2013, location same as last year, or for the GPS crew, at the posted coordinates.
Prize categories will likely be (subject to change):
• Best Overall Cache Hide (aka, I’m in it for the favourite points)
• Most Winter Friendly Cache (aka, any amount of snow is not a concern)
• Best non-traditional Cache (the cache, location, cache page and cache type all reflect a theme)
• Best Use of a Container (get creative)
• Best First hide ever (the hide must be the cacher's first ever)
• Best Family hide (best kids cache)
• Best SWAG
• Best Park&Grab
• A new category as suggested by you! (get creative)
Of course there will be a few traditional honourable mentions :

• Most Embarrassing Story
• Most Caches Found individual
• Most Cachers Found (keep track of who you meet)
• Most FTFs.
• Newest Cacher
• Furthest Distance Traveled to Attend CARW2013
