This cache is placed with the approval of the Citizens for the Old Lutz Schoolhouse and should be a fairly easy park and grab for most. You are looking for a 35mm film canister. Please be respectful of the property.
"Built in 1927 (some sources say 1925), the Lutz School is a classic example of Georgian Revival architecture with its red-brick construction, symmetrical floor plan, octagonal cupola and a fan window over the front door. It is the last original structure in Lutz, which was started in 1911 by the North Tampa Land Company. It was named to the National Register of Historic Places in 1996. It was listed as a Hillsborough County Historic Landmark in 1993.” - The information above is from http://www.tampapix.com/lutzskyline2.htm. The Old Lutz Schoolhouse is managed and maintained by several local organizations including the Citizens for the Old Lutz Schoolhouse and The Lutz/Land O’ Lakes Women’s Group. The schoolhouse plays host to several events around the year, most notably when volunteers transform the schoolhouse into a Winter Wonderland offering a large display of holiday trees decorated with glimmering lights, model railroad displays, animated figures, hundreds of nutcrackers and decorations. Santa Claus himself makes a special appearance on one Saturday of December to enjoy breakfast and crafts with the visiting children. If you are caching during this time, you will certainly need to use your geo-stealth as there will be plenty of muggles around, however feel free to stop inside during their display hours as it is free admission. This location is significant not only in Lutz’ history but was also significant in my Civil Air Patrol voluntary service. As a former cadet and senior officer of CAP’s North Tampa – Lutz Cadet Squadron (which makes the Old Lutz Schoolhouse it’s meeting location and headquarters) I had spent a lot of time training, mentoring and leading other volunteers of the CAP - both cadet and officer alike. CONGRATULATIONS TO LT.RANGER.BOB FOR FTF!!!!!!
