Geocache Description:

The cache you are looking for is near Deep Rock Spring in Palmyra. You can access the spring through the parking lot of the Public Works Building. Please bring your own pencil to sign the log!

If you were looking for this cache in the late 1800s, you would be travelling to a spring where the water was known for its curative properties. People used this water for drinking and bathing, and people throughout the country would travel to Palmyra's Sanitarium in search of "water cures" for various ailments. The sanitarium was located on Main Street, where a gas station now stands. The spring, originally called Zenobia, is now known as the Deep Rock Spring. There is a parking spot near the spring, accessed through the Public Works Building Parking Lot. There is a nice informational sign for further history, as well as a bench to use. Unfortunately, someone chose to graffiti the concrete in the area. That has obviously lessened the beauty of the area. UPDATE 4/3/22: This cache was originally hidden in the winter, but has been moved to a location that is not only winter friendly, but will keep cachers out of heavy vegetation and muddy, wet ground that wasn't known during placement. Please be careful going down the hill and near the water! Thanks for seeking out our cache...it is now a very small container, so you may need a TOTT to extract the log from the container, and you will also need a pen. Enjoy! Permission to place this cache was granted by the Village of Palmyra Clerk's Office.
