Geocache Description:

This is a Multi-Multi-Multi Cache set in Church Wilne, Derbyshire as part of The Amber Series. For this geocache you will explore St Chad's water and St Chad's church. For the final destination where the geocache is, you will need to work out the co-ordinates which is a short walking distance from these 2 locations.

Final location N 52 52.ABC W001 20.DEF

Church Wilne was a medieval settlement and has a local nature reserve, St Chad's Water and a Saxon church, St Chad's church. The name Wilne means 'a clearing in the willows'. Several wooden wildlife sculptures have been placed at various points around St Chad's Water, as part of the enhancement of the former gravel pit. A mile long circular path enables visitors to circumnavigate this 12 acre reserve through a number of different habitats. The church is from the 13th-15th century as the lower part of the tower is 13th century and the battlements are 15th century. The church was accurately restored by Currey & Thompson after being gutted by fire in 1917. The Willoughby Chapel on the south side was built by Sir Henry in 1622 as a memorial to his father Sir John and his mother Frances.

To find out all the numbers for the final destination of the physical cache you will need to solve these questions. The co-ordinates given are for the starting point and parking. Begin in St Chad's nature reserve car park and walk around the lake clockwise to solve some questions.

1. A = ?
In the car park at St Chad's Nature reserve there is a large rock with a brass plaque.
What year was the site purchased by Draycott Parish Council? 19*4

2. C = ?
Walk clockwise from the car park around the lake, soon you will come across a little pier with an information board.
How many type of animal footprints are pictured on the board?

3. B = ?
Half way round the lake there are benches. Sit on a bench to take in the view of the lake.
Roughly count the number of ducks on the lake. Double the number, add 6, divide by 2, take away the starting number, add 2 to give B.

4. F = ?
Carrying on walking clockwise around the lake until you arrive at a tree stump table and stump stool. On the nearest bench there is a memorial plaque, add together the four digits of the year mentioned. What is this number?

5. D = ?
Nearly back at the car park there is a popular open duck feeding area. Here there are some benches, how many are there? Then minus 3 from this number to give you D.

Then walk across the road from the nature reserve car park to St Chad's church.

6. E = ?
Walk around the church. How many doors does the church have, wooden and iron? Any double, i.e split, doors count as one. Then add 3 to this number to give you E.

The geocache is a short walk from the church.
