Geocache Description:

Come out and join us for the 4th Annual Caching With Eagles Event!! Everyone is welcome!! - Since Mr. and Mrs. kcepenn will be enjoying the sunny weather in Florida,we will be using this opportunity to host our first "official" Event.... We promise, there won't be any big surprises this time!!

Whether you realize it or not, the Kinzua Dam is a great place to spot our national symbol - The Bald Eagle. Particularly in winter time, when most lakes and streams in the NorthEastern U.S. freeze over, the outflow below the Kinzua Dam is always open water and the Eagle population increases dramatically as Eagles frequently fish the open waters. The Photo Gallery offers a sample of what we may observe during the Event!!

The Event will be a normal geo-meet with a logbook, travel bug exchange, and a handful of temporary caches being available from 8:30am until 12:30pm. There will be hot chocolate and cookies available in the Visitors Center (while it lasts).

Geocachers will meet at the Big Bend Visitors Center, located at the posted coordinates above to sign the official logbook for the Event, trade travel bugs, swap geo-stories, and receive coordinates for the temporary caches. There will be at least a half a dozen temporary caches placed along the trails, that those in attendance may find as they wander around the Big Bend Recreation Area.

Also, if you are interested in viewing Eagles, there will be three spotting scopes setup for visitors to check out eagles in the vicinity of the dam and tailwaters.

So, what else is there to do on a cold Saturday in February, then come out, find a few caches, meet up with some of your caching friends, and view a few Eagles!!
