Palmer Creek is a designated fish habitat that runs through the township of Innes Park and provides a lagoon style swimming area before discharging into the Pacific Ocean. The fishing in this little creek is one of the Burnett Coast’s best kept secrets.
Wetlands and creek systems have commonly been regarded by many as swampy "wastelands" and breeding grounds for mosquitoes, but we know they are very important for our freshwater, coastal and marine ecosystems. Palmer Creek is part of the Mangrove Management Strategy which is ensuring that fish habitat resources are used in an ecologically sustainable way and the minimization of adverse impacts of human activities on fish habitats.
