Geocache Description:

Whareroa is a small settlement on the shores of Lake Taupo . This is the land of Ngati Parekaawa.





THE LANDMARK OF PAREKAWA

WELCOME THEREFORE TO WHAREROA, THE ANCIENT LAND OF NGATI PAREKAWA.

MAY YOUR LIFE THERE BE SERENE, THE LAKE GLISTEN FOR YOU LIKE GREENSTONE AND THE SHEEN OF SUMMER DANCE FOREVER BEFORE YOUR PATHWAY.

Access from Turangi to Taumarunui on SH41 then turn onto SH32 for 2 km. ( Western Bay Road) Turn right on to WhareroaRd and travel along this road to the given coordinates. (10 km from turn off)

Whareroa Village is lake Taupo best kept secret, Trout Fishing, boating, skiing holiday  a  great place to holiday.
Whareroa Village's surroundings offer great outdoor activities to suit most people. Waterskiing, trout fishing, pleasure boating, cycling, mountain biking, bird watching, trapping, hunting or just lying in the sun on one of the best beaches on Lake Taupo.  Just imagine for one minute, skiing at Whakapapa, a hot swim at Tokannu hot pools on the way home, an evening fish at the Whareroa stream, a glass of 
hot mulled wine, and a fresh trout on the barbeque looking out at the magnificent scenery.  Life doesn't get much better.
Situated 33 kms west of Turangi on the south western edge of Lake Taupo. The magic of Whareroa is it's relative isolation,
great Lake views and Village style atmosphere.
You can get away from the hustle and bustle of city life and still only be 30 minutes from town. Whareroa with its long sandy beaches, excellent boat launching, ski lane, and fabulous fishing within minutes of launching your boat is the envy of most lake visitors. For those who prefer fly fishing there is the famous Whareroa stream mouth, or Lake Kuratau only minutes away. For those of you into snow skiing 50 minutes will see you at the Whakapapa ski fields.  

The cache is hidden at the entrance to the Village. You are looking for a small camo container.As it is small please bring a pen or pencil and there is no room for swaps.
