Geocache Description:

This cache is located beside the Wonglepong Cemetery. It is a small sistema container with room for small swaps.

The cemetery contains graves with inscriptions dating from 1895 to the present day.

According to information sourced from the Queensland Archives, prior to 1914 this was a private cemetery. It formed part of the property of Sarahvale owned by the Franklin family. In approximately November 1914, Ann Ford Franklin donated the land to the Tamborine Shire Council, who was at that stage the local council, for use as a public cemetery. The cemetery was referred to as the Sarahvale cemetery and was later called Wanglepong then the Wonglepong, cemetery. It has also been referred to as the Lower Canungra Cemetery.

The earliest graves noted were of Franklin family members in 1895. There are at least three unmarked graves.

This area contains the graves of Mr Straddie Heavens Great Grandparents and Grandparents.

It is a lovely peaceful spot.  Please remain respectful to the people interned here and please park on the dirt section at the entrance to the area and do not drive on the grassed area.
